Meghan Menkes
Social Worker and Psychotherapist, Crisis Counsellor and mama of three tiny humans
Think of Meghan as that one person in your life who you know you can turn to for great advice when times get rough.
Compassionate and supportive, Meghan is an attentive and engaged listener who specializes in providing support to individuals and families coping with the uncertainty and distress that may arise in a change in one’s physical or mental health.
With a masters degree in social work, a Bachelor of Arts degree with an honors specialization in psychology and a background in crisis intervention, Meghan has been providing individual and family counselling since 2009. She previously worked in the Brain Metastases Clinic, the Geriatric Oncology Clinic and with the lung cancer patient population at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, providing support to patients, children and family members who were affected by the impact of a loved one’s cancer diagnosis through the trajectory of the illness. She most recently worked at the Social Work Consulting Group providing therapeutic counselling support to clients of all ages who had been involved in or affected by a motor vehicle accident.
Meghan offers individualized support using cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and mindfulness practices and uses a strength-based and active listening approach, among many other therapeutic interventions. Her strength in counselling lies in her ability to understand and meet clients where they’re at, before progressing to meet their goals. When working with clients, Meghan aims to develop a respectful, reciprocal relationship while offering a secure and reparative mindset during counselling.
